World Series Game 7 Captures Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The thrilling extra-inning clash that saw the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a aggregate 51 million spectators in the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball stated this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday epic contest secured 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a 16% increase compared to the previous finale between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 came in eighth, and the third game finished in 13th position.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest started at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – recorded 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The entire seven-match series drew over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete American viewership reached over 16 million. The overall World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew over 8 million viewers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and the network’s best postseason performance since 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen different languages.
